Last week, I woke up to what has become a yearly Springtime visit. This particular season brought a mother and three young black bear cubs to the homestead. After emerging from one of the trails that I've cut through our woodlot, they slowly made their way across the still un-tilled garden and past the shed. Eventually the quartet landed in a clearing where I have had vague plans on building a hoop house.
Fresh greens appeared to be on the family's morning menu...
After a while, though, eating their greens became a bore to the cubs. Climbing a nearby black cherry tree proved to be much more fun.
All of these images were taken on May 3rd at around 5:45AM from a slightly opened upstairs bedroom window with a Canon 5DIII, 300mm f/4 L combination shot at f/5.0, ISO 20000 in dim light.
